Kathryn Henry, Soprano, is a senior pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in vocal performance at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, studying with Dr. Tanya Kruse Ruck. In March of 2015, she was selected as a National Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She has also won the UW-Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Concerto and Aria Competition, and first place in the Upper College Women category at the National level of the NATS Student Auditions.
Known for her “clean coloratura and silvery voice”(BWWOperaWorld. Com, Richard Sasanow), Ms Henry’s operatic credits include Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, Clarina in Rossini’s La cambiale di matrimonio, L’Ecureuil in Ravel’s L’enfant et les Sortilèges, and most recently the title role in Puccini's Suor Angelica. In opera scene programs, she has performed the roles including Rusalka in Dvořák’s Rusalka, Ilia in Mozart’s Idomeneo, and Ariadne in Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos.
At the 2015 Chautauqua Institute, Ms.Henry covered Mimi in Puccini's La Bohéme and appeared on concerts with Craig Rutenberg and Mikael Eliasen. In November 2015, she made her orchestral debut with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
